It is also called Sun dog, Sunbow or Whirling Rainbow.
Nature speaks in magical and mysterious ways if we are willing to listen.
Some say that this circle around the sun is a bad omen, but I would have to agree with the Native Americans:
it is a sign of change.
While we were on a sacred Journey in Fiji, after finishing the second dive (scuba) of the day, I saw a dramatic large rainbow around the sun just above us. I asked the captain of the boat who is a local what the meaning of the sign is.
His reply was simple:
“I don’t know: only the Almighty knows.”
Whoaaa!!! Simple indeed!
I know that this omen predicts the change in the weather.
That morning when I woke up I felt short of breath and tried to understand what happens.
I asked my Intuition to give me some answers.
Later that day I asked locals what was happening. Their answer was that the frequency was very low due to a possible cyclone formation heating the island.
So it made sense as the weather was changing.
What happens in the world is that the weather is changing.
However the change is happening on more profound levels…
For some native people the rainbow around the sun is considered to be a sign from God, marking a time of great change.

The sight of it was simply amazing!! For the first time in my life i’ve seen this awesome halo around the sun today at 11:47AM here in Phu Tho, Vietnam. From the glass window of my office I saw some people rushing out of the factory including 2 Koreans, so thinking that there’s an emergency i ran to the door also, then I saw everybody looking up the sky. I looked up too, and found myself uttering: Oh my God! what does this wonderful phenomenon mean? Then I searched for my phone and joined everyone in taking photos, then later post on my facebook. But i was not able to capture a perfect round halo. It was almost noon time so I couldn’t stare long time at the amazing sun. When I reached home (after a long day) I googled about this and found this blog.

I saw today afternoon around 11:45 , Kolkata , India . It was there for long time , we were returning from polling booth after castin our vote . My entire family was mesmerized ! Hope for change 😉 in political leaders today !!

I saw one Dec 17 2023 in Shawnee Kansas it was the most spectacular thing I have ever saw. I hear it’s pretty much a once in a lifetime thing. I had to place my hand so my eye’s were nit staring directly into the sun and that is when I saw the full circle of the rainbow surrounding the sun. I was in complete and total awh of the sighting. I took a picture but it did not capture the full circle, because as we know it’s pretty hard to take a pic of the sun looking thru an ordinary lens, but my picture did capture almost half of the rainbow over top of the sun. I really whish I could post my picture to my comment.
